Tucson. Three Vehicles in One
The Hyundai Tucson 4WD car has the comfort and maneuverability of a passenger car, the rugged terrain capabilities of an off-road vehicle, and the space and versatility of a multi-purpose vehicle; three vehicles in one! At its heart lies our impressive 2.7 litre V6 petrol engine, which provides plenty of torque, enabling heavy loads to be towed and strong acceleration. The Tucson is also available with our economical petrol or diesel 2.0 litre engine. With a sharp, well sculptured exterior, advanced safety features, and a surprisingly spacious interior the Hyundai Tucson is a class leader in terms of value and features.
Tuscon. Exterior
Lean and muscular, the Hyundai Tucson’s exterior profile has a sharp, chiseled look. Every contour of this 4WD car has been purposefully designed. With strong character lines running bonnet to bumper, it exudes strength and elegance. An easy-to-access tailgate with flip-up glass is a clever feature, while the dual exhaust pipes of the 2.7 litre V6 petrol and the 2.0 CRDi diesel add to a rugged exterior. There is a choice of single or two-tone colour combinations.
Tuscon. Interior
The Hyundai Tucson’s spaciousness and comfort is impressive. Its cleverly designed interior provides very generous head, shoulder and leg room. The driver’s seat slides, reclines and is height adjustable; as is the steering column, which is tilt adjustable to create the perfect driving position. And, with 60:40 split rear seats, there’s room to carry all the larger necessities of life – a 2.7 metre surfboard for instance…
Stylish touches abound; a leather steering wheel and gearshift trim, a centre fascia with an alloy finish, as well as your choice of luxurious leather (elite models only) or cloth seats. The Tucson also has many convenient electronic features including cruise control, a trip computer, and an auto light control system (elite variants only), which automatically switches headlights on or off as needed. All Tucson models have the luxury of climate controlled air-conditioning with AQS (Air Quality Control System) and a pollen filter.
Tucson. Safety
We’re proud to report that the Hyundai Tucson has class leading safety ratings in the Australasian, US and European NCAP tests. 2006 Euro NCAP and Australasian ANCAP awarded the Tucson an overall 4 Star rating demonstrating the extreme safety and solidity of the Tucson, while 2008 NHTSA NCAP safety tests awarded the maximum 5 stars for frontal and side impact. These ratings illustrate that both driver and passengers can enjoy piece of mind motoring.
Protection begins with the passenger safety cell, which features door mounted anti-intrusion bars and a four-ring reinforcement structure. Add to these six airbags, driver and front passenger seatbelt load limiters and pretensioners, height adjustable front seatbelts, height adjustable headrests (to minimise whiplash) and a 3-point lap diagonal (ELR) rear centre seatbelt, you get all round safety.
Even difficult driving conditions can be contained - the Tucson’s 4WD handling performance is enhanced by the car's rock solid stability, an Electronic Stability Program (ESP) which helps reduce driver under-steer and over- steer as well as Electronic Brake-Force Distribution (EBD), which applies the optimum pressure to individual brakes in all braking conditions. And if you’re braking in a tough situation, you’ll have the confidence of knowing that the Tucson also features the Brake Assist System (BAS). Brake Assist applies maximum force to the brakes during emergency stopping situations. These braking technologies are standard on all model variants and work in harmony with ABS for superior safety.
An advanced electronic ‘torque on demand’ 4WD system is also a key safety feature (4WD car models only). It uses sensors to monitor driving conditions. In non-demanding conditions it allocates nearly all of the available torque to the front wheels - effectively running in 2WD and thus providing valuable fuel efficiency gains. As road conditions or torque demand changes, it automatically distributes up to 50% of the available torque to the rear wheels as required. In particularly demanding conditions, the car's 4WD lock button lets you manually ‘lock’ 4WD for a 50/50 torque split, which remains activated at speeds less than 40 kph.
